This announcement has been a long time coming: two years of focused work on the book, plus a couple years before that of noodling with ideas, trying to find the frame for the story I wanted to write.

Today, I’m very happy to announce that THE WATER KNIFE, my next novel for adults, will be published by Knopf. It’s a story of climate change, drought, and water politics set in the American Southwest, loosely based in the same world as my short story “The Tamarisk Hunter.”

The New York Times has more on the story: http://www.nytimes.com/2013/09/07/business/media/knopf-acquires-new-paolo-bacigalupi-novel.html

  1. Paolo – I just finished The Windup Girl. I couldn’t put it down, and I found myself reading more slowly because I didn’t want ti to end. That world became so real to me. Will there be another book set in that world? IYou left me wanting more.
