While I was working on THE DROWNED CITIES, I also ended up writing another book to sort of unwind from the pressure of writing a follow-up novel after SHIP BREAKER’s phenomenal success.
ZOMBIE BASEBALL BEATDOWN was a secret project that I wrote for myself and my own entertainment. I wanted it to be funny, because those are story-telling muscles that I don’t normally use, and I wanted it to be fast and furious for a reader who is otherwise immersed in video games and comics and movies, and perhaps doesn’t think that books have something to offer.
ZBB, of course, is full of zombies, and baseball bats, and brains… but, as in the case of all my stories, it’s about other things as well. Little, Brown made a quick video for me to introduce the book. Good for a giggle, I think.
