Nominated for the Hugo
March 20th, 2009 | by Paolo |I’ve just been nominated for the Hugo Award for my novelette “The Gambler.”
I want to thank everyone who voted for the story, and also Lou Anders over at Pyr Books who leaned on me to sit down and write the thing when I wasn’t sure I had a story in me.
So again, thanks, and congratulations to all the other nominees. It’s an honor not only to be nominated, but to find myself in such good company.

I was very pleased but not at all surprised to see “The Gambler” on the list. Good luck!

Woo-hoo!
Just the confidence boost you no doubt craved while buried in revisions.
Congratulations pal.

Sadly, it has no apparent effect on self-confidence for the next project. But I did feel quite shiny for a day.

Paolo,
Congratulations on much deserved recognition. I read Pump Six last summer while moving from KY back to CA and could not stop thinking about it. I just found your site today, because I am putting together curriculum for high school level Sci Fi English courses, and on of my collegues asked who I thought was a the best new Sci Fi writer. I guess you win that award, too.
Hope to read much more from you in the years to come.
Thank you,
Matt Huddleston
