Sure, George W. Bush made decisions without bothering to consider the consequences, and as a result he has many, many things to regret. But McCain is different. Picking a secessionist former beauty queen with a pregnant daughter and no experience for his VP wasn’t an example of the terrifically poor judgment we’ve all come to expect from Republicans. No, it was . . . ah . . . part of his plan to dominate the news and keep Obama out of the headlines.
