Okay — mutual sexual chemistry — Adama and Roslyn. Sure.

But was I the only one that bought Sam Anders’ love for Kara Thrace? Maybe my emotions were manipulated by Bear McCreary’s music in that scene when Starbuck was leaving Anders behind on Caprica. That is one moving piece of music.

So maybe there wasn’t any chemistry between them, but I really bought the unrequited yearning Sam Anders had for Kara.

End of line.

Maybe the chemistry between Roslin and Adama comes from the fact, too, that they are both accomplished and experienced actors? They have more life experience to draw on for their roles?

I agree about The Thomas Crown Affair. Pierce Brosnan and Renee Russo were excellent.

Great, underrated film.
But for an exact contrast to his Bond films, where he is paired with girls half his age, see the wonderful remake of The Thomas Crown Affair. A truly fantastic film “like they used to make.”

Hmm. Old people. I ran across a magazine called More recently. For women over 40. I looked at it and laughed at the whole magazines-for-old-people trend and then I realized my wife is within spitting distance of their target market. !!!!! That happened fast. I don’t feel 18 anymore, but wow, I didn’t feel like I was pushing forty, either.

I’m not sure if it’s that Adama and Roslin are older, or if it’s just that it feels like they’re actually paying attention to one another. Though, I’ve always thought that Edward James Olmos particularly possessed a gravitas that made him appealing.

I’m trying to think of other onscreen couples that really stand out. George Clooney and Jennifer Lopez in Out of Sight come to mind.

I think what makes those two so appealing is their age, and the fact they’ve lived life and understand the sublties a little bit better. They know what they want, but they both know why they can’t have it just yet.

It’s not often we see “adult” relationships on television, if that makes any sense…it’s often people who are young and pretty and don’t know what they’ve got to lose.
